Congratulations! So you will be Cloth Diaping a Newborn!Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! You are embarking on a new adventure whether this is your first or your 10th! How many diapers do I need?
With cloth diapers, you will be changing your baby a bit more frequently that you might with disposable diapers. All you really need to get started is enough cloth diapers to diaper for about 2 days. Why 2 days? This is the most recommended frequency of when to do wash your cloth diapers and accessories like wipes and pail liners. With a newborn baby, you will be changing the most frequently as they go very frequently. With a newborn (1-3 weeks old) you will be changing about 10 - 12 diaper changes per day. That means that you will need about 24-36 diapers for a 2 day rotation. There are so many choices, which ones do I buy?If you plan to cloth diaper from the beginning, most newborns are too small to fit in the "One Size" cloth diapers. With few exceptions, most one size diapers will begin fitting at about 10 lbs. Meaning that there is a gap of about 1-3 weeks when you will need a smaller diaper - a newborn diaper. Newborn diapers are designed to fit this beginning stage and to fit underneath the umbical cord. We have listed in this category some of the most popular newborn cloth diapers. These are just some ideas for packages of what others have found to work for them. OPTIONAL Accessories - Pail Liner or Hanging Pails - helpful to have 2 (one for washing the other for filling)
- Wetbags (for when you are out and about) - 1+
- Cloth Wipes - 2-3 dozen wipes
- Newborn BabyLegs - super cute and make diaper changes a breeze!
