Safari LTD | Fairy Fantasies ~ IRIS
Fairies who can speak to trees are exceedingly rare, though they usually appear in the flower fairy family, like Iris. Often, these fairies are born in times of danger, when the trees and flowers know something is amiss and they wish to communicate with their fairy caretakers. Listening carefully to the aged trees, Iris has discovered that they fear the future, that all in the world must be encouraged to protect them.
Iris scurried to another tree, fearing what she might find. Oaks were notoriously grumpy, so a gruff warning from the old oak this morning was hardly a surprise. But aspens were calmer, prouder, not prone to hysterics, and an old aspen had shared the same message: the trees are in trouble. Iris needed to confirm this, so she sought a gnarly fur tree. Unlike the leaf losers, firs remained awake year round, listening and cautious. The fir would know if something was amiss. An hour later, Iris whizzed back to the fairy village at the edge of the meadow. All must hear this news. She must inform the queen. The trees agreed: the future was fraught with danger for wild, living things, and it was time to spread the warning. Iris wondered if she should dare to seek out humans. Surely they could help?
Most iris flowers are purple or yellow, but Iris the flower fairy was born from a rarer green iris, when the pale flower opened its broad petals to the sun. She is rare herself, a fairy who can communicate with the trees, thanks to her unique background.
- Characteristics: Iris appears gentle and demur, as she must be when approaching a wizened oak or proud willow. With great focus, she can encourage the trees to speak.
- Size and Color: Shades of green fill Iris’s skirt, tunic, and wings. They represent the light green flower from which she was born, but they also symbolize the trees, her friends. Iris stands 4 inches tall.
- Iris is part of the Fairy Fantasasies® collection.
